Art Song Recital

Art songs are vocal music compositions, typically written for one voice with piano accompaniment. Pittsburgh Opera's Resident Artists explore the vast art song repertoire on selected Sundays during the season. The March 13 Art Song recital features mezzo-soprano Laurel Semerdjian, bass-baritone Matthew Scollin, and Mark Trawka on piano.

The program will include selections from:

  • Claude Debussy's Chansons de Bilitis
  • Francis Poulenc's Le bestiaire 
  • Robert Schumann's Ich bin dein Baum, o Gärtner
  • Hugo Wolf's Michelangelo Lieder 
  • and more

FRIENDS of Pittsburgh Opera are your hosts at the reception.
 
Art Song Recitals are on selected Sundays during the season, in the George R. White Studio at Pittsburgh Opera Headquarters. Admission is $5; free to members of FRIENDS of Pittsburgh Opera and donors at $50+.
