As a principal in the city’s cultural community since 1939, Pittsburgh Opera and its events have developed a reputation for elegance and excitement. The annual Diamond Horseshoe Ball is the Pittsburgh Opera signature event to kick off the season in grand style. Guests will enjoy an evening of dinner, dancing, cocktails and of course opera! Each year, one lucky guest is selected at random to receive a diamond-encrusted pendant in the shape of a horseshoe to commemorate the evening.
The 56th annual Diamond Horseshoe Ball will be held on Saturday, October 9, 2010 – opening night of the 2010-2011 season and Rossini’s The Barber of Seville.

Consistently hailed as one of Pittsburgh “Top Ten” parties, Pittsburgh Opera's Maecenas Gala is the social event not to miss! Named for Gaius Cilnius Maecenas, the wealthy Roman statesman whose name has become a byword for patrons of the arts, the Maecenas Gala has developed a reputation for excitement and surprise. Guests are treated to an evening of cocktails, dinner, dancing and spectacular entertainment!
Maecenas XXVII will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2011.
