Second year OperaCenter
artist Javier Abreu made his professional operatic debut in March 1999 as
Nemorino in Donizetti’s L’elisird’amore. Recently, Mr. Abreu
appeared as Goro in Puccini’s Madama
Butterfly with the Shreveport Opera Company, Rinuccio
in Gianni Schicchi with the Longview Opera Company, Count Libenskof in Rossini’s Il Viaggio
a Reims and Anatol
in Barber’s Vanessa with the MooresOperaCenter.
He completed his master of music degree at the Moores
School of Music at the University
of Houston. He has appeared
as a featured soloist with the Naples Philharmonic Orchestra, Orchestra
X, Brazos Valley Symphony, Masterworks Chorale of West Palm Beach and of Houston, and
Civic Chorale of Miami, among others. His PittsburghOperaCenter
appearances include LillasPastia in La Tragèdie de Carmen and the First Soldier in L’IncoronazionediPoppea and Pittsburgh Opera appearance as Normanno in Lucia diLammermoor in April 2002.
