Philipp Sulzberger comes to Pittsburgh for his second season
with the Pittsburgh Opera Center, where he has appeared as Escamillo
in La Tragèdie de Carmen and Liberto in L’IncoronazionediPoppea. He
has studied at the HochschulefürMusik in Munich,
the Lee Strasberg Theater Institute in New
York City and at the University
of Nebraska, where his roles
included Marcello in La Bohème, Dr.
Falke in Die Fledermaus,
and Guglielmo in Così
fan tutte. Among Mr. Sulzberger’s other
operatic credits is his debut with Pittsburgh Opera as the First Soldier
in Salome, Sciarrone in Tosca
with Opera Omaha and ViscomteCascada in Die LustigeWitwe with the Deutsche Oper
Berlin. He was a winner of the SoliDeo Gloria Cantorum Voice Competition in 1999 and the Metropolitan Opera
District auditions in 2000.
