In this ancient tale that inspired Shakespeare, the innocent Lucretia falls prey to an arrogant young man, her husband’s friend. Despite the tragedy, her fidelity remains radiant until the very end in Britten’s intimate, even spiritual, “chamber opera.”

In this new production, a collaboration with the Carnegie-Mellon School of Drama, Resident Artists Lindsay Ammann and Liam Moran depict the tender marriage of Lucretia and Collatinus; Dan Kempson is the reckless Tarquinius, and Danielle Pastin is the Female Chorus that guides us on a harrowing journey.
