Take this trip to ancient China, by way of the Benedum Center. In this perpetual favorite, the princess Turandot cruelly executes the men who try to win her - until a stranger conquers her with the power of love. Puccini's score shows off the stunning vocal abilities of Susan Neves (Tosca, 2006) as Turandot and Frank Poretta (Samson & Dalila, 2008); acclaimed Chinese bass Hao-Jiang Tian returns as the deposed king Timur, in a spectacular new production by the Canadian design duo Renaud Doucet and André Barbe. Music Director Antony Walker conducts; Renaud Doucet directs. 2010-11 Season Sponsor: PNC Production Sponsor: The National Endowment for the Arts Production Sponsor:The Benter Foundation |
