Join us Monday, March 9th, 2020 for Roses & Thorns: A Pittsburgh Opera Fashion Event.
Inspired by the legendary opera Carmen, which opens March 28th at the Benedum Center, “Roses & Thorns” will combine the best in couture with top-shelf operatic entertainment to create an experience unlike any other.

The evening includes hors d'oeuvres from Hungry for Time such as crostini with fava bean puree, roasted mushrooms and balsamic glaze; prosciutto, gouda, apple, and pickled onion finger sandwiches; and endive with crab salad. Delectable desserts, also from Hungry for Time, will include sparkling blueberry bites, mini crème brûlée, and dark chocolate mousse. Wine is provided by the Strip District’s own R Wine Cellar. Partnering with the office of Mayor William Peduto the organization's goal is to bring all parties interested in a career in fashion the necessary skill level to succeed in the industry.
Pittsburgh Fashion Week (PGHFW) is an annual week-long series of events in Downtown Pittsburgh, which features clothing created by local Pittsburgh designers. This project is led by the Downtown Community Development Corporation (Downtown CDC) and is part of an initiative that's dedicated to uniting and promoting the growing Pittsburgh fashion scene.
Since Roses & Thorns is in March, and Pittsburgh Fashion Week is in the fall, Roses & Thorns is not an official Pittsburgh Fashion Week event. However, the Downtown CDC is graciously helping promote Roses & Thorns in the spirit of general Pittsburgh fashion collaboration.
