Biography


Meredith Lustig is a second-year Pittsburgh Opera Resident Artist. Her roles in 2013-14 include Papagena/THE MAGIC FLUTE, Zina/DARK SISTERS, as well as Musetta/LA BOHÈME Student Matinee. In 2012-13, she appeared as Carolina/IL MATRIMONIO SEGRETO, Clorinda/LA CENERENTOLA, and Clorinda/LA CENERENTOLA Student Matinee.

Miss Lustig recently sang the role of Daisy Buchanan in the Aspen Opera Theater Center’s production of The Great Gatsby under the baton of Anne Manson. She has spent past summers as a 2010 Stern Fellow with the Songfest Program in Malibu, California, and as a 2011 Young Artist with Glimmerglass Festival, where she sang Ancella/Medea. During the 2010-11 season, she made her New York City Opera debut as Giannetta/L’elisir d’amore. Additionally for the company, she covered the role of Max in Oliver Knussen’s Where the Wild Things Are, and participated in the 2011 VOX Festival of new operas. Miss Lustig returned to New York City Opera in 2012 to sing the role of Cephisia in Telemann’s Orpheus. She was selected as one of Caramoor’s 2012 Vocal Rising Stars with the New York Festival of Song, where she participated in the program New York to Paris, Paris to Paradise at both Caramoor and Merkin Hall in New York City. Miss Lustig’s awards include being named one of Town Hall Theater’s 2010 Broadway Rising Stars.
Miss Lustig earned both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from The Juilliard School under the tutelage of Edith Bers. Favorite roles at Juilliard included Lauretta/Gianni Schicchi, Venere/La Doriclea, and the title role in Poulenc’s Les Mamelles de Tiresias.
