Biography
Suzanne Vinnik is a first-year Resident Artist with Pittsburgh Opera. In the 2011-12 season, she appearsas Leila in The Pearl Fishers Student Matinee, Gretel in Hansel & Gretel, and covers the role of Violetta in La traviata. In Summer 2011, Ms. Vinnik appeared as Musetta/La bohème at Castleton Festival and covered the role of Anna/The Seven Deadly Sins. She is scheduled to debut at Lyric Opera of Virginia as Micaela/Carmen in Spring 2012. Ms. Vinnik is an alumna of the Opera Studio at Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome, studying with Renata Scotto. She performed Musetta/La bohème at Nevada Opera Theatre and at Opera North, where she was also heard as Lucy in The Telephone. Other roles include Mimi/La bohème, Liu/Turandot, and the title role in Lucia di Lammermoor. She has appeared in concerts at Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center, as well as with the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, and other orchestras. Ms. Vinnik won first prize in the NJ Verismo Opera Competition, second prize winner from Gerda Lissner Foundation, and an Encouragement Award winner from the George London Foundation. A native of Las Vegas, Ms. Vinnik holds a bachelor’s degree in Vocal Performance from Texas Christian University with additional studies at Mannes College of Music.
