From Art Song to Spirituals, Pittsburgh Opera cordially invites you to a special evening with Lester Lynch, baritone and Glenn Lewis, piano.

International baritone Lester Lynch returns to Pittsburgh Opera having previously appeared in productions of Aïda and I Pagliacci. Hailed for his commanding voice and charismatic portrayals of some of the most iconic characters in opera, including Verdi's Macbeth, Rigoletto and Simon Boccanegra, he also recently debuted in the role of Wotan in Das Rheingold.  Regarded as an expert in contemporary opera as well, notable performances include Dallapiccola’s Il Prigioniero, Busoni’s Doktor Faust, Nico Muhly’s The Glitch, and Josh Gibson in Pittsburgh Opera’s production of The Summer King at Detroit Opera.

Major appearances include Teatro alla Scala, Royal Opera House, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Semperoper Dresden, Seattle Opera, Volksopera in Vienna, Houston Grand Opera, Santa Fe Opera and San Francisco Opera. A prolific recording artist, Mr. Lynch can be heard on the Pentatone label as Iago in Verdi's Otello, Scarpia in Tosca, Renato in Un Ballo in maschera, Michele in Il tabarro, and Germont in La traviata as well as his debut solo album “On My Journey Now.”

He recently made his film debut in November 2021 as Merrivale in Gordon Getty's new opera, Goodbye, Mr. Chips, based on the popular 1934 novella by James Hilton. A frequent recitalist, he has presented programs throughout the United States and internationally. 

Mr. Lynch will be appearing as Il Conte di Luna in Pittsburgh Opera’s Il Trovatore, March 25 - April 2.
